The Angel Has Landed

I HAVE CONQUERED ANGEL'S LANDING!!! I may not be able to walk for the next three days but at least I can finally say that I've done it. On my previous attempt (with Chris last May), I freaked out when we got to the section of the trail where you have to cling for dear life to some loose chains that they have attached to the sandstone. This time around, I was alone, so I didn't have to worry about anyone else's safety (it freaks me out more to watch other people do dangerous stuff), and I was spurred on by the advice of a general that I once saw in some old war movie... "Who wants to live forever anyway?"

I am now safely back at my hotel where I am once again writing live from the Bumbleberry Inn in Springdale, UT. Since I was last here three weeks ago they have actually set up their own wireless network. Unfortunately, since I was here three weeks ago the price of a room has gone up about $30 a night. I'm sure that it's unrelated to the wireless access; this is a tourist town and all of the hotel prices go up as summer nears. Nonetheless, the wireless acccess softened the blow of the price increase.

I'm sure that I could have found a cheaper hotel room, but I am much too lazy to drive around to every place in town to find the best price. I guess it's not really that I'm lazy, but rather that I don't think that the difference in price that I could find could possibly justify the time spent hotel shopping. Maybe that's why most people book online ahead of time :) I'm all about the online reservations but when it comes to my weekend adventures, quite frankly, I rarely plan that far in advance. I didn't know until this morning, for instance, that I would even be in Zion today. I did have it narrowed down to either Zion or Mesa Verde, but I decided to sleep on it, and go with whichever one sounded best in the morning.

Anyhow, I've got lots of cool pictures (I hope), but I won't be able to post them until I get home tomorrow.
